Apple's 20th anniversary iPhone may still have a small cutout at the top of the screen. A leaker called Digital Chat Station says the display will have holes. That goes against older rumors of a front made of one unbroken slab of glass. None of this is confirmed by Apple.
The anniversary phone is rumored to be the "iPhone 20," launching in 2027. Apple would skip the iPhone 19 to mark 20 years of the iPhone. Digital Chat Station made the claim in a Q&A under a Weibo post about the iPhone 18. He and another leaker, Ice Universe, have said this before.
Mashable says most people now expect a new "quad-curved" display with no bezels (the borders around the screen), plus a small Dynamic Island on top.
The iPhone Duo already has a fully uninterrupted inner display, with the FaceTime camera hidden underneath. The Mashable writer who tested it calls the display pretty great, but notes two catches.
Apple is probably working on a better hidden camera. Still, Mashable finds it hard to imagine it matching the selfie cameras on recent phones by next year. Hiding Face ID sensors under the display is a separate challenge.
