Anthropic has launched Claude Duet, an app where its Claude AI acts as a "proactive agent" for professionals and small business owners. One of its jobs is buying business supplies. The company announced it on Wednesday, Oct. 21.
What it does
Claude Duet draws on the memory, skills and connected apps in your Claude account. It keeps working even when your laptop or phone is off, then sends a notification when a task is done or needs your review. It also checks your connected accounts from time to time and messages you when something needs attention.
For purchases, it uses Link, the digital wallet from Stripe. Claude confirms the item with you, and Link asks you to approve the spend. It pays with a virtual card, so your real card number is not shared. It can also use Shopify's Shop Pay to check out at online stores.
- It waits for your approval before sending a message, making a payment, signing a document or deleting anything.
- It can connect to tools through more than 6,000 connectors and plug-ins in the Claude Marketplace.
- Anthropic says it is built around Claude Opus 5.5.
What is not known yet
The announcement, as reported, does not say what Claude Duet costs, which plans include it or when everyone can use it. Those details are not in the material available.
It joins a busy field of personal AI agents. Meta's Muse, OpenAI's dots and xAI's Grok Bot, which can read a user's finances, all arrived in recent weeks.
The takeawayClaude Duet can buy supplies for a business, but every payment still needs your approval, so read each request before you say yes.
