Android Auto is getting a new voice feature called Gemini personal intelligence. It lets you ask your car questions that draw on your own information, and it can answer two questions in one go. The rollout is starting on Android Auto, and cars with Google built-in are due to follow in the coming months.

What it can do

The examples given are practical. You can ask, "What's my flight gate? And is my flight on time?" and get both answers. You can say, "Find the car wash from the photo I took last week and navigate there." You can also ask for an indoor restaurant along your route that matches your usual vibe.

Control and privacy

Apps are not connected without your consent, and you can turn the feature off at any time. If you skip it, standard navigation, calling and music still work. People who already enabled the Gemini app can use the new features in the car. New users set their preferences in the Gemini settings.

What is not known yet

The material does not give a price, a list of supported phones or cars, or the countries covered. It also does not say which apps can be connected. The first few days of use may involve a learning curve, since results depend on how you phrase a request.

The takeaway

If you use Android Auto, check your Gemini settings to see which apps are connected, and remember you can turn personal features off at any time.
