AEON, a company building payment tools for AI, says an AI assistant can now book a hotel and pay for it. You describe the trip, and the assistant searches Travala, a travel booking site, picks a stay and completes the booking. The travel feature is live now.
What changed
Until now, AEON's agentic checkout focused on buying products. The upgrade, called Agentic Checkout V2, handles a more complex task. The AI reads a request with a destination, travel dates, number of guests and budget. It then searches, compares options and books. AEON's demo asked for a stay near Tokyo's Asakusa Station.
The AI does not use your main wallet. It works from a separate agent wallet, which AEON describes as an on-chain environment, meaning its records are kept on a blockchain. That wallet is meant to keep the AI away from your main funds. AEON says it gives users clear transaction records and control over spending limits.
What is not known yet
- Whether there are fees for using the booking feature
- Which countries or users can try it
- How cancellations and refunds work
- How many people are using it
AEON says it wants to power AI payments in any industry, and it is tying together its checkout tool, AI Card and Agent Wallet. It joins other payment and technology firms moving AI from suggesting things to actually spending money.
The takeawayIf you try AI booking, set a low spending limit first and check the wallet's records so the assistant can only spend what you allow.
