What happenedSecurity firm Surfshark says a counterfeit TikTok Shop site drove over 320,000 phishing blocks between May and September 2026 and is still active.
Who is affectedAnyone who shops through TikTok Shop or clicks deal links on social media, especially ahead of Black Friday.
What to do
  1. 1Shop only inside the official TikTok app, not through links sent to you.
  2. 2Do not tap links in texts, emails or messages about deals or orders.
  3. 3Never type a password or card number on a page you reached from a link.
  4. 4Read TikTok Shop's own scam protection guidance before you start holiday shopping.

A counterfeit TikTok Shop website is now the most-blocked phishing scam in Surfshark's data, and it is still online. Phishing means a fake page built to trick you into handing over passwords or card details. Surfshark, a VPN provider, says the fake shop caused more than 320,000 blocks from May to September 2026.

What the numbers show

That is 19% of all global phishing domain blocks in that period. In the first 20 days of October, the site was still the top blocked phishing domain, at 18%. Surfshark counted blocks from its web content blocker, a tool that stops devices from loading known bad pages.

Overall phishing blocks grew from 104,962 in April to 655,024 in September, a 524% jump. More people were using the tool, with protected devices up 241%. But blocks per device also rose 83%, from 0.74 to 1.35, so the growth is not just a bigger user base.

Who should be careful

Anyone who shops on TikTok Shop or taps deal links on social media should pay attention, especially with Black Friday near. People who buy only inside the official app and ignore links sent to them are in a safer spot. The steps in the alert box above cover the basics.

What is not known

Surfshark did not reveal the fake site's name. The material does not say how shoppers end up on it or how many people lost money. The figures are blocks, not victims, and they come from one company's tool. TikTok Shop publishes its own scam protection guidance, including advice on phishing links.

The takeaway

Buy only inside the official TikTok app and never enter a password or card number on a page you reached from a link.
