A $20,000 home robot butler is taking deposits, but won't arrive until 2028

A New York startup called Tuesday Labs is taking $200 deposits on Voxel, a two-legged robot meant to work as a household helper. The deposit is refundable. The price is projected at about $20,000, and deliveries in the US are expected in 2028 or later. The company is run by a former Boston Dynamics engineer.

What it is meant to do

Voxel is built to tidy rooms, fetch objects, water plants and tell you where it last saw your keys. It has two arms, simple grippers for hands, and legs shaped like a Z that fold so it can reach low shelves. Two kinds of cameras help it see. Illustrators, character designers and animators are shaping its personality. Alonso Martinez, a former Pixar animator who worked on "Up" and "Coco," advises.

What is not settled

The final price could change. Tuesday Labs also says Voxel still needs a major hardware redesign, so the robot you see today is not the one that will ship. The material gives no firm delivery date beyond 2028 or later.

A rival is further along. 1X took $200 deposits on its $20,000 Neo in October 2025 and plans to ship this year. Scheduled remote operators will handle tasks that robot cannot do yet. Tuesday Labs is matching those deposit and price numbers, but its robot is years behind.

The takeaway

A $200 refundable deposit holds a spot, but Voxel is years away, its price may change and its hardware is still being redesigned.
